Melaka

The last couple of days we spent in Melaka in Malaysia. It only took about 4 hours to get there but it is so different from Singapore. It is much less developed and people are living in really poor conditions. They also appear to have no proper system on the roads - it's chaos! There doesn't seem to be a particular side of the road they drive on and I even saw people going opposite ways round roundabouts! Few people speak any English so making yourself understood is hard and I almost felt like a minor celebrity - I don't think the locals have seen many white people! It was a great experience to stay there though! We spent most of our time on the markets and visiting temples as there wasn't much else to do. We managed to fit in a ride on a Rickshaw which was really relaxing in the baking heat!

This morning we arrived in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. So far it seems great, very different than Melaka with lots of high rise buildings and places to visit. This morning we visited the Batu Caves but we had to climb 272 steps to get to them which wasn't easy in this heat but it was worth it! There was lots of temples and statues inside with lots of ceremonies going on inside. Tomorrow we're planning to head up the twin towers followed by a trip to some mosques. In the evening we're heading out to the Kuala Lumpar night market to do some haggling!

Thanks for reading, I'll update you again soon

Don't suppose it was so relaxing for the rickshaw owner!
